TALC Projects
TALC – Teaching Aids at Low Cost,
was set up to support health workers who work with the poorest sick people
across the developing world. We believe good health provision should be available
to all – especially those in the poorest communities in Africa, Asia
and Latin America.
We have been working for over 40 years to achieve this. We currently supply
over 10,000 health workers (doctors, nurses, midwives, lab technicians, etc.)
with appropriate health materials - including low cost health text books,
videos, CDs, oral rehydration spoons, tapes indicating malnutrition in children,
etc.
Our materials are chosen because they are appropriate to, or specially written
for, conditions in poor countries. TALC buys in the books and CDs and distributes
them at as low a cost as possible, or we find the funds to produce and/or
distribute new materials.
Some TALC projects are for the production of books or CDs. Where we learn there is a need for a book or CD on a particular health topic and donor funds have already been found, we may decide to help with production and distribution, as a special project.
TALC also produces e-TALC CD-ROMs (9 Issues to date) full of health materials which are sent to health workers who cannot easily access the internet to update their knowledge.
Other projects are in response to a demand from health workers in a developing country, or in response to a need perceived by health workers associated with TALC.
Where we at TALC agree to undertake a project, and funds are available, we will assist with the project from inception through to production and distribution to the relevant health workers overseas.
