HIV/AIDS Parent to child transmission (South Asia)

Slide Sets

Image of HIV/AIDS Parent to child transmission (South Asia)

The set presents a broad approach to prevention of parent to child transmission of HIV, including consideration of primary and secondary prevention strategies that include non-test-dependent interventions that do not depend on antenatal HIV testing as well as anti-retroviral prophylaxis. The set takes a `child survival' approach recognising that the aim is to increase the number of healthy children, rather than simply prevention of mother to child transmission of HIV. The approach emphasises the importance of follow up support and care for mothers as well as babies
