In 2005, David Werner -- author of the groundbreaking handbooks Where There Is No Doctor, Disabled Village Children, and Nothing About Us Without Us -- visited India, where he conducted three innovative, hands-on workshops on "Appropriate Technology in Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) ," in three different regions. These workshops, colorfully documented in three slide shows and narrated in clear, basic English, detail the interactive process involving the workshop participants, disabled village children, and their families. These heartwarming, yet pragmatic stories show how, by working together and putting the disabled person at the center of the process, assistive devices can be tailor made to better fit his or her needs. Emphasizing the importance of both the social and physical aspects of working with people with disabilities, this CD is an excellent educational tool ... A must for every disability program's library. Source: e-mail: healthwrights@igc.org www.healthwrights.org
