This booklet provides a framework to help parents, relatives, carers and friends save vital information about a family's background. Memory Books are particularly useful for vulnerable children who have been orphaned or separated from their parents for whatever reason, or whose families have been depleted by AIDS. This guide contains practical information about making the books, including coping with feelings and getting support, ideas on how to involve children, what to include and what to leave out, and getting started on the writing. It is suggested that anyone who plans to get involved be it as a trainer, supporter or writer, should read all the notes before making a start.
Visit the Memory Book for Africa website for further information about the project and free resource downloads.
