As with Part 1 this book is aimed at those working in the district laboratory and describes the use of standard operating procedures, quality assurance and good laboratory. It includes a 20 page colour section, including 80 microbiology plates and 35 plates showing normal and abnormal blood cells. The chapter on microbiology focuses on infections prevalent in tropical countries and the haematology chapter deals with matters such as the investigation of anaemia. There is also a chapter on blood transfusions which provides guidelines on the appropriate use of blood.
