CBR stands for Community-based Rehabilitation. This book is the result of the 2nd Africa Regional Conference on CBR in Malawi in 2004, and encompasses papers on the history of CBR Africa Network, strategies for integrating CBR into different services and sectors (eg, health, education, economic, social and cultural), the impact of HIV/Aids on persons with disabilities, and the need for the continuing exchange of information. Also highlighted is the need to support inclusion and participation of persons with disabilities as a vital part of community development, and the importance of research and the recording of good practice: valid and reliable evidence being necessary for positive development of rehabilitation services.
