Image of CBR: A participatory strategy in Africa

This book is based on the presentations and deliberations of a conference held in Uganda in 2001 at the Uganda Institute of Special Education, Kampala. The chapters include contributions from all the stakeholders groups involved in Community-based rehabilitation (CBR) programmes including parents of disabled children and disabled people themselves, from nine different African countries. The process of participation is discussed from these different perspectives and final conclusions are made about the key ingredients of CBR and the way forward for such programmes in Africa.
