This 56-page workbook, no. 10 in the ‘CALLED TO CARE’ toolkit, is designed to inform, support and encourage parents, especially in countries where family life is being undermined by the AIDS epidemic. Written from a Christian perspective, ‘Parenting: a journey of love’ is structured around five ‘parental roles’ defined by the World Health Organization. The book is designed for use in a series of six workshops, each lasting two to three hours. The contents include games, stories, Bible studies, poems, discussions and role plays. The book contains numerous line drawings by Zimbabwean artist, Mashet Ndhlovu. The author, Malawian theologian Dr Fulata Moyo, includes contributions from her own mother and her children in the book. Note: the CALLED TO CARE toolkit consists of practical, action-oriented workbooks on various aspects of HIV and AIDS, designed mainly for use with churches and community groups in sub-Saharan Africa but applicable elsewhere as well.
