This handbook is No. 5 in the CALLED TO CARE toolkit. It covers training guidelines on community-based issues related to HIV and AIDS, e.g. shared vulnerability, traditions and culture, responsibility to protect the weak, and how to turn commitment into action. There are also sections on the sexual abuse of children, domestic violence, widow inheritance and property grabbing by relatives. The content is particularly relevant to African Independent Churches but can easily be adapted for use in other contexts. Note: The CALLED TO CARE toolkit consists of practical, action-oriented workbooks on various aspects of HIV/AIDS, designed mainly for use by churches and community groups in sub-Saharan Africa but applicable elsewhere as well.
