This handbook is No. 4 in the CALLED TO CARE toolkit. It is the first of two handbooks (the second entitled Community Action on HIV and AIDS) written primarily for leaders and members of African Independent (or Instituted) Churches, and offers guidelines for running a training course on pastoral action in response to HIV and AIDS. Sessions, run by facilitators for whom guidance is given, cover basic facts about HIV and AIDS, spiritual understanding of sickness and healing, songs and testimonies, and how to care for one another. Note: The CALLED TO CARE toolkit consists of practical, action-oriented workbooks on various aspects of HIV/AIDS, designed mainly for use by churches and community groups in sub-Saharan Africa but applicable elsewhere as well.
