Both general and conduction anaesthesia are considered in detail and specimen techniques described. Special consideration is given to paediatric and obstetric anaesthesia and to medical conditions of importance to the anaesthetist. The anaesthetic techniques described were specifically chosen to be suitable for use in hospitals that are subject to constraints on personnel, equipment and drugs, and where doctors have limited access to specialist services.
